A June wedding at Simpson Lakes is a scheduling problem before it is a filming problem. Labif Filmhouse has filmed there in summer, near Dade City.
Simpson Lakes is 120 acres of woodland and lakes north of Dade City, with a 13,000 square foot air-conditioned lodge, an open-air barn, a pavilion under the oaks and a lakeside island.
How it actually films
Central Florida in June means afternoon storms and heat that arrives by ten. The venue handles this better than most — there is air conditioning and there is indoor ceremony space — but a summer timeline still has to be built backwards from the weather rather than forwards from the getting-ready shots.
Summer also gives you the longest light of the year. Sunset near the solstice runs past 8pm here, which means a full evening of usable outdoor time after the heat has broken. That is the trade: a harder afternoon for a much better golden hour.
What to protect in the timeline
- A real indoor fallback, decided by mid-afternoon. Not a hope.
- Portraits after the storm, not before. Post-storm light over the lakes is the best of the day.
- Guest comfort between settings. Long walks in June change how people look on camera.
